Bavlinsky District

Its name is like honey on the lips: Bavly, baly... That's how it is - Bavly settlement got its name from the river, which was called "baly elga", from the Tatar - "honey river". People settled in these places since the beginning of the XVII century, in small villages lived Bashkirs and Tatars, they cultivated land and raised cattle. By the early 20th century, Bavly became the center of the parish, and under Soviet rule, in 1930 - the center of a large administrative district.
Reference. Bavlinsky district is located in the south-east of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is adjacent to the borders with Bashkortostan and Orenburg region. In the district, according to 2018, live 35,172 people, 63% of them - in the city of Bavly (22,258 people).

The modern picture of life in the Bavly region seems to be composed of colorful puzzles - a variety of industries, activities, interests, and cultures. If everything is told at once, it would seem that we are talking about two or three districts at once. But no, this is all - Bavly and districts, a large, multi-faceted, active district of Tatarstan. And if you answer the question, what they are like, Bavly, the most correct thing to say is: different. For example, there are...

 Mountain spring Bavly

It is almost Scotland, only without medieval castles. The area is located in the southern part of the Ural foothills, so the local landscape is very picturesque: hills, forests, fields, springs. There are so many mountains around Bavly, they are so closely intertwined in the history and life of the Bavly residents, that they each gave their name. There are the Izvestkovaya and Melnichnaya Mountains, there are the Izrytaya and Sovinaya Mountains, there is the Serdechnaya Mountain and, of course, the Mednaya and the Kamennaya Mountains. The best view of the city is from the top of Biek Chagyl.

By the way, the most famous elevation of the district - Salikhovskaya Mountain, is 46 kilometers from Bavly. More precisely, it is a chain of hills, stretched along the bank of the tributary of the Kandyz River. Salikhovskaya Mountain is loved by scientists, here live the rarest living organisms - 225 species of so-called higher vascular plants, a third of which are included in the Red Book of Tatarstan.

For the sake of this beauty and natural purity, people go to Bavly as far as 375 kilometers (this distance from Kazan), not only to relax but also to improve health - near the city beautiful resort "Ivolga", treating diseases of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system. And one of the indispensable medical regulations in the sanatorium - walk on these wonderful green hills. Near many mountains beat springs that Bavly residents care about. Each is landscaped, each is assigned to a responsible company that monitors the purity and order.

Extraction, transportation, and processing of oil, as well as all related services - the main occupation of residents over the past 70 years.

 Bavlinsky oil fields

A new life in Bavly began at the height of World War II: the first brigades were drilling the local land in search of oil. Three years later, in September 1946, the first fountain of Devonian oil was drilled on Mount Gali. Now there is a monument to the first well.

The deaf off-road area, where before electricity was not everywhere, let alone water supply, immediately came to life. New houses, asphalted roads, hospitals, schools, kindergartens - Bavly grew like on yeast. The oil industry was followed by the rapid development of agriculture. The current Bavlinsky Region is strikingly different from the pre- oil one. It pulled up, gathered, and blossomed. Everything that a person needs for a comfortable quality of life is in step accessibility.

"Neftyanka" is the main taxpayer and the best employer of the Bavlins. It accounts for 66% of the gross territorial product of the district - quite a large share, given that the agrarian complex, which in Bavly is considered "the most important sphere of activity", takes only 7.7%.

 Agricultural Bavly

Wheat, barley, oats, sheep, horses, and, of course, dairy farming is a standard "gentleman's set" of Bavlinsky agricultural industry, typical for all districts of Tatarstan. A dozen large farms, four dozen peasant farms, half of which are family farms, and about five thousand personal backyards, which are also actively involved in the formation of districtwide agricultural products.

Bavlinsky agrarians are very active. For example, they develop a greenhouse business with passion. They start small - they put greenhouses right on their plots of land, grow vegetables and greens in them - all this is well bought. Ilyas Yagudin, a well-known businessman, and farmer in the region, for example, rose in the greenhouse business. A few years ago, he was visited even from the northern regions of the country to pick up cucumbers. In 2015, Yagudin opened Agropark in Bavly, a place where district farmers can come and sell their produce.

Another farmer, Edik Gevorgyan started to breed fish in closed water bodies. The project is expensive and risky, but profitable - sturgeon, trout, and sterlet are the most demanded fish species in the market. Gevorgyan has already invested 30 million rubles and now the project is in the phase of active development. There is no doubt that it will be successful because industrial fish breeding is one of the most promising directions in the agricultural sector of Tatarstan.

But there is a wealth on the Bavlinsky land, which no one has not yet used. These are carbonate soils; they are quite common in the region. The best crop for them is grapes, especially varieties used in wine production. There is an experience of vineyard growing in the republic - in Laishevsky and Kamsko-Ustyinsky districts. And in the neighboring Bugulminsky district lives Alexander Zudin, who successfully grows on his land 130 varieties of grapes and willingly sells seedlings to anyone. Is there an enthusiastic investor who is ready to break up vineyards on thesunny slopes of the local hills, and then, perhaps, to establish the production of branded, Bavly wine?

 Bavly production

These edges are historically connected with alcohol production. Before the revolution, the landlord Zhdanov's distillery worked in Bavly. Since 1911, a small similar plant worked in the village of Alexandrovka (owned by Alexander Butlerov, a chemist scientist, creator of the theory of the chemical structure of organic substances). Under the Soviet power, the plant produced a rectification of the highest purification and was part of the Kazan Association of distillery and liquor industry viniculture of the RSFSR, later it was a branch of Tatspirtprom, and in 2011 it was closed - the company ceased to comply with license requirements of the new legislation.

It was a matter of honor for the administration to resume the work of the oldest industrial enterprise in the region. Still, Alexandrovsky's distillery for one hundred years was a symbol of the Bavly industry. Everything turned out to be successful - private investors were found, a project to reorganize the plant appeared. Now they produce ethyl acetate, which is used in the manufacture of paints, as well as dry fodder yeast and food carbon dioxide - for mixed fodder production.

The district tries to support the development of any production, whether it is a large enterprise or small business because it is a guarantee of rapid economic diversification and avoidance of oil dependency. That is why in Bavly several recent years small but promising production facilities have opened and are successfully operating. There is a workshop for the production of plastic products - various household utensils are produced there. There is a building materials factory, which produces plastic windows, doors, profiled flooring, and metal tiles. Work production of expanded clay blocks, forged products.

By the way, the location of Bavly district is very good for organizing the supply of products or raw materials. The district is crossed by highways to Ufa, Orenburg, Samara, Central Asia, and Kazakhstan.

So far, the share of small and medium businesses in the gross territorial product of Bavly district barely reaches 11%. But gradually, in small steps, the situation is changing. The Bavly residents themselves believe that if "Moscow was not immediately built", then for the Bavlovs - all ahead. That's what they sing about.

 Bavly singing

In 30 km from Bavly there is a village Alekseevka, next to it - a mountain, near the mountain - a glade, and on the glade - the best place for people with guitars in the whole Zakamye. Here every year in August, for 15 consecutive years, a festival of the author's song "Sulinka - White Key" is held. The festival is a favorite, landmark for the whole district. Bards from neighboring regions and regions, Moscow, Kazan, Ufa, and many more come here.

Management of Bavlinsky district also does not miss the festival, establishes and presents prizes, and sometimes personally "sunny forest" to the guitar will sing or "Sumlinsky waltz" with the organizers will dance. The symbol of the festival is trout, it is caught here, in the river Sula, and then it is boiled from the ear and treated to all participants and spectators. In a word, the festival is so warm and soulful that its "echo" is then long spread around the area with new songs, photos, pleasant memories, and promises: "Next year - again!" By the way, the creator of the festival Valentina Zhuravleva announced that next year the organizers are creating a new nomination: the author's song in the national language. And this is the first step towards the national level of the festival.

Yes, the Bavlinsky district is very different. Its main advantage is the availability of well-developed infrastructure and a sufficient number of qualified workers, for which the district should say thank you to the oil industry. All these factors are like prepared fertile soil on which one can "sow" almost any business idea. This is also confirmed by Talia Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan: "To facilitate small and medium business, introduce innovative industries and develop the entire territory, two production sites with fully completed infrastructure have been created and are operating in Bavlinsky district. Investors who decide tostart a business in Bavly will receive comprehensive assistance and support".

3 more facts about the Bavlinsky District

1.   There is a "time bridge" in the district, after passing through which you can move in time for 2 hours. This is a bridge over the Ik River near the Bashkir city of Oktyabrsky. It is all about the difference in time zones of Tatarstan and Bashkiria. This fact is defeated in the plot of the first film "Yolki" by Timur Bekmambetov, where one of the heroines, a resident of Ufa, does not have time to make a wish to fight chimes and goes to neighboring Bavly, where the New Year will come only 2 hours later.

2.   People's poet of Tatarstan Fanis Yarullin, whose poems are included in school textbooks, comes from the Bavly district. In the village of Kzyl-Yar there is its museum, and in Bavly is a monument.

3.   Bavlinsky is a very sporting region. Here are constantly held various competitions of Russian and international level. Some sports facilities - stadiums, gyms, swimming pools, training grounds, and bases in the area 176 pieces.
