Visiting "White-Stoned" City
Partnership, stability, credibility, trust — are synonyms to characterize the relationships between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan, built on powerful basis of friendship between the two regions. Today, the Republic of Tatarstan is a home to more than thousand of Turkmen. In 1996, Tatarstan’s brunch of the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmens began its work in Kazan House of Friendship of Nations. In a couple of years, in 2000, National autonomy of Turkmens in Tatarstan gained the status of public organization. Speaking about Tatar diaspora in Turkmenistan, there are about 39 thousands of Tatars in the Republic. It is one of the most tight-knit and active expat communities in Turkmenistan. Over the past years, Tatarstan and Turkmenistan paid a large number of bilateral visits. In 2012, the Program of Cooperation in Trade, Economic, Cultural and Humanitarian Fields between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan was signed in Kazan. This was also the year when the First meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held.
Today, the relationships between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan are developing steadily. Representative offices of such companies as PJSC «Kamaz», PJSC «Tatneft», «IED — Holding» are operating in Turkmenistan. There is a number of joint projects, including the one aimed at increasing oil recovery with participation of «Tatneft». Since 2006 and up to now, PJSC «Kamaz» furnished more than 8,5 thousands pieces of equipment for different ministries and departments of Turkmenistan. Tatarstan Plenipotentiary Representative Office is working in Ashgabat. In 2015 foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan totaled RUR 7,4 billion.
On 10 and 11 October, the working visit of the President of Tatarstan Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov in Turkmenistan will be held. The delegation will include the head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, the heads head of the ministries and departments and representatives of large businesses of Tatarstan.
Within the framework of the visit it is planned to conduct the meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. Floral tribute at the Turkmenistan Neutrality Monument will be done. Visiting a new building of Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan which was opened in January 2016 is also in delegation’s plan. Moreover, participation in Exhibition of economic achievements of Turkmenistan devoted to the 25th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan is in delegation’s plan.
One of the most important moments of the visit is expected to be Turkmenistan-Tatarstan business forum, where the parties will discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation. Also, the stand of the Republic of Tatarstan representing promising economic and investment projects will be working. In the framework of cultural program the participants will visit the concert of masters of the arts of Tatarstan, which will be held in House of music concert hall.
