The Tunisian dinar is getting closer

These days, the delegation of Tunisian business community headed by the CEO of ATS company Youssef Zarrouk is visiting the Republic of Tatarstan. In the framework of the visit, the delegation visited Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

This Arabic country located in the north of Africa is relatively well known in Tatarstan both by its rich historical past and modern achievements. The basis for this phenomenon stems from the dynamic development of the country which is far outstripping its neighboring African states in cooperation with foreign countries, production of domestic products delivered for export markets as well as in educational level. Tunisia is among the most developed countries in Africa and the Middle East, occupying one of the first places in terms of socio-economic development. The economic base of Tunisia is mining and refining industries, textile, electromechanical, chemical industries, tourism. Agriculture is a significant segment of economy.

The guests from the Republic of Tunisia were presented the presentation of investment potential of the Republic of Tatarstan and got acquainted themselves with extensive possibilities of the region.

The Head of the Agency also invited the delegated to visit the IX Summit "Russia-Islamic world" which will be held from 18 to 21 May, 2017 in Kazan.

The sides discussed a number of issues such as development of trade-economic and investment relations: projects, which can be implemented with the participation of Russian companies; products supply to the market of the Republic of Tunisia and African countries; implementation of joint projects in petrochemical industry; trade relations development in the sphere of agriculture (olive oil, dates, preserves, cheese, wine, etc.); enhancing trade relations in the field of light manufacturing; development of trade in the sphere of production of building materials; development of mutual tourism.

In the framework of the meeting with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan Investment Development Agency was requested to organize inter-ministerial work to foster cooperation with Tunisia, in particular to create a working group, as well as to arrange business visit in Tunis in April, 2017. Serious large-scale work is still to be done to perform these assignments.
