Meeting global challenges, we set trends

At the panel discussion of the annual Oil Summit of the Republic of Tatarstan held in Almetyevsk the heads of the federal ministries and departments, Russian and foreign oil and service companies have discussed the development of the fuel and energy complex: global challenges and trends. This year the summit is held as part of the I International Petroleum Youth Forum “HOT-Challenge 2019”, which brought together young industry professionals from 5 CIS countries: Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. “I am privileged to speak here for a second time. Especially, it is nice to see the “veterans”, the old familiar faces. Those high standards and high bars that you set for us, I think, firstly, are a good example to follow, and secondly, a certain responsibility and our obligations to you to comply with this. You have not just created the oil industry of Tatarstan. I’d go as far as saying you were at the origins of the oil industry of the Soviet Union, and respectively, of the Russian Federation, and to some extent for many decades this was an example of the global oil industry,” thanked Pavel Sorokin, the Russian Deputy Energy Minister, and noted that such forums and the opportunity to share experiences is a “very welcome thing”.

The agenda identifies the main challenges of the domestic oil and gas industry: efficient use of natural resources, the effective development of hard-to-recover reserves, digitalization and market transformation.

The panel discussion experts also included Farid Mukhametshin, the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Svetlana Radionova, the Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage, Nail Maganov, the Director General of PJSC TATNEFT, Zoltan Aldott, the member of the MOL Group and Slovanafta Oversight Board, Mohamed Shakur, the senior business leader of olefins and detergents and process technology and equipment at UOP. Taliya Minullina, the Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, was the moderator of the discussion.

“The yet another year in a row, the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most appealing regions of Russia in terms of the investment climate. Probably, that was the right republican decision taken as to what are the most promising areas to be supported and conditions to be created for their development. The republic is the most experienced in terms of the cluster development. We consider extraction, in particular oil and gas extraction, as a boon, since it is energy for human life and development, for investments in business, and a large source of income of all budget levels, and respectively, it directly influences the comfort, prosperity and well-being of each citizen,” noted Taliya Minullina.
