Izmir fair: following the footsteps of sanctions lifting

Following the lifting of a number of sanctions and strengthening of Russian-Turkey relations, Russia became a partner of International Izmir Fair.  With close business contacts and common cultural features, Tatarstan will traditionally become a key participant in the Izmir event representing exposition of investment and industrial potential at the exhibition.

International Izmir Trade Fair is the fair of industrial and consumer goods, the largest in Turkey. Its history starts in 1934 and this year it totals in 86 years! The exhibition has the status of the member of the International Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, since 1948 - the member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and is among the largest world exhibition events.

Traditionally, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Izmir and the Ministry of Trade of Turkey hosts the event. The organizers of the Fair are aimed at attracting attention of foreign investors, establishment of highly efficient relations among foreign enterprises, as well as participation of the Turkish side in implementation of investment projects on the territory of other countries, organization of joint events and development of international trade which is also relevant to Tatarstan.

Leading companies in the sphere of health and medicine, organic agriculture, household equipment, automotive industry, construction and agricultural machinery, chemical and petrochemical industries, waterway transport and print publishing houses will be represented at the Fair.

The program of event includes official high-level meetings on discussion of the prospectives of development of relations between the countries and presentation of economic potential of the states.

Innovations and energy bring Russia and Turkey together

Only in May 2017, as a result of Russian-Turkish negotiations at the highest level, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated: "We consider Turkey to be our most important partner. We are committed to supporting an intensive political dialog at the highest level". And now, three months later, Russia is a key partner of the largest international exhibition in Turkey which will start its work on August 18 and will last for 11 days in International Exhibition Center Kulturpark under the motto "Innovations. Energy".

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Aleksey Erkhov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey Faruk Ozlu will take part in the plenary session.

The Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina will visit the Izmir Exhibition Fair together with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In anticipation of International Fair on August 17, Tatarstan-Turkish business forum will be held where Taliya Minullina will present the Republic of Tatarstan and also will take part in a number of meetings.

A number of presentations of Russian and Turkish companies are expected at the business part of the Fair, representatives of PJSC "KAMAZ", JSC "Network company", Industrial park "Chelny", Machine building cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan, Special Economic Zones "Alabuga" and "Innopolis" and others will represent Tatarstan.

A number of sessions will focus on energy partnership, new stages of Russian-Turkish cooperation in trade and economic sphere, prospects of industrial and investment cooperation.
In the frames of the exposition of the Russian Federation, the stand of the Republic of Tatarstan will be represented separately: these are the brands Invest in Tatarstan and Made in Tatarstan, presentation of enterprises and infrastructure of the Republic of Tatarstan, sport achievements and touristic opportunities, zones for B2B meetings and negotiations.

It is impossible to leave the exposition empty-handed: in addition to exploring detailed information materials and presentations, each visitor can make a selfie to remember with the symbols of Tatarstan - chak-chak, tubeteika, motivating slogan "Invest in Tatarstan", oil, snow leopard with the possibility to sent pictures by email or directly in the Instagram of the user. The organizer of the Tatarstan's stand is Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

According to the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, the participation in the Fair will help to gain direct contacts with potential partners and investors: "The Izmir event is steadily gathering over 1,5 million visitors, over 1000 companies-exhibitors from 60 countries participate in the fair. Traditionally, Tatarstan is one of the key participants of the International Fair along with representatives of world business. Turkish Izmir is the birthplace of many outstanding, enterprising and successful people such as the Prime Minister of France Édouard Balladur, billionaire and shipowner Aristotle Socrates Onassis, Nobel laureate Giorgos Seferis, Ataturk's wife Latife Uşşaki, Founder and Chairman of FIBA Holding financial group Hüsnü M. ÖZYEĞİN and others. We will look for a modern billionaire to invest in Tatarstan".
