France is interested in Tatarstan market entry by European companies
France is indented to support economic cooperation with Tatarstan, including the entry of new European companies to Tatarstan market. This was stated by the representatives of authorities and business circles of Lyon and Marseille during a two-days visit of the delegation of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency to the regions of France.
Agriculture, gastronomy and tourism
On October 17-18, the delegation of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the regions of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur to foster Russian-French interregional cooperation. In Lyon, the members of the delegation met with the President of Confederation of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (CPME) of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, Vice-President of Confederation of Small and Medium sized business Francois Türk as well as French entrepreneurs. The parties discussed the possibilities of future cooperation. It also became known that the representatives of Confederation are planning to pay an official visit to Tatarstan in December this year.
In addition, during his stay in Lyon, the Deputy Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Insaf Galiev presented economic, industrial, investment and tourism potential of Tatarstan and the priority areas for cooperation to his French colleagues. The entrepreneurs of the region got acquainted with the opportunities and preferences of the work in SEZ «Alabuga» and IT-city of Innopolis.
French party described the opportunities for cooperation with Tatarstan’s companies in the key areas of the region which are agriculture, gastronomy and tourism.
Cooperation in alternative energy and IT
In Marseilles, Tatarstan’s delegation met with the Vice President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur on international affairs Caroline Pozmentier to discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation.
In addition to investment potential of both regions, the opportunities of joint work in the area of alternative energy, IT-technologies, chemistry and aeronautics were presented in the city.
In Marseilles, the delegation of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency had a meeting with Jean Yves Longere, the Director of the Regional Agency for Innovation and Internationalization of Companies (ARII).
Investors from France: existing and future
French companies are already working in the Tatarstan’s market. World producer of technical gases for industrial enterprises «Air Liquid» launched its production in Tatarstan in 2010 and became the largest French investor in the republic. The total investment of Air Liquid company for 7 years of work in Tatarstan amounted to 25,9 million dollars.
«Not all European countries give a positive assessment to the sanctions regime. France is a striking example. It was the representatives of this country who at the highest level repeatedly voiced the need to lift the sanctions against Russia. Everyone understands that the Russian market is huge, and it is too much of a luxury for entrepreneurs to lose it. We continue to work with French investors. Recently, a company with French roots „Castorama“ received a permission for construction in Kazan. At the end of 2018, the facility will be put into operation. We are working on attracting new investors», — the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina commented.
