The delegation of Tatarstan visited the Republic of Belarus
From 17 to 18 October, the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov paid an official working visit to Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus. The President was accompanied by the representatives of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, heads of Ministries and Departments and top managers of leading Tatarstan companies.
During the first day, Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with leaders of Tatar social organizations. During the meeting, the President learned that in Belarus folk festivals and national holiday «Sabantuy» are traditionally held with participation of Tatar creative groups such as «Duslyk», «Leysan» and others. Furthermore, Rustam Minnikhanov presented the award «Gratitude of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan» to the most active representatives of the Tatar Society in Belarus, the members of «Chishme» association for preservation of ethnic traditions, heritage, contribution to the development and strengthening of friendly relations between the peoples.
In the framework of the visit, the President of Tatarstan held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who suggested to include the company «Belorusneft» in the work of oil sector of Tatarstan.
«I have a suggestion. «Belorusneft» is a good company, but the output is falling. Some time ago oil was extracted and exported from Belarus. Therefore, we would like our company to be given work engagement in your replublic. Trust me, it will be much cheaper to work with us than with any other companies. «Belorusneft» can sign subcontracts or other contracts with you. Taking into consideration our our good relations, I think you can find a profitable job scope for this company, and beneficial for you too,» the President of Belarus said.
Rustam Minnikhanov, in turn, thanked Aleksander Lukashenko for the assistance in the implementation of Tatneft’s projects in Belarus. According to Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan is ready for cooperation in the sphere of petrochemistry.
The delegation of Tatarstan laid a wreath at the Victory Monument as a part of cultural program of the visit. In addition, the guests got acquainted with the operation of such Belorussian manufacturing enterprises as OJSC «Minsk Motor Plant» Holding Managing Company" and JSC «Holding management company «Belkommunmash».
«The Republic of Belarus is in top 5 leading trade partners of Tatarstan, — the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency outlined. — During the last year the trade turnover totalled in $878,4 million. Tatarstan exports oil, engines, chemical industry products to Belarus. A number of Belorussian companies manufacture their products on the territory of our Republic. These are tractors assembly plant in Yelabuga and elevator assembly operation on the basis of Kazan plant. Low floor buses and trams produced in sister republic have also proven themselves in our Republic. It is necessary to continue development of trade and economic cooperation».
