Finnish Business goes Kazan 2018

On October 17-18, «Finnish Business goes Kazan 2018» business forum was held in the Capital of Tatarstan. The event was attended by 400 representatives of Russian and Finnish companies, the opening ceremony took place in "Korston".

"We are interested in Finnish companies choosing our Republic as a launching platform for work in Russia. Tatarstan has all the opportunities for business localization. Four cities of the Republic received the status of an advanced development territory. There are two special economic zones («Alabuga» and «Innopolis»), technoparks and industrial sites, industrial parks on the territory of all municipalities of the republic. In my opinion, now is the best time for Finnish business to come to us", - the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov greeted the guests of the forum.

At the forum "Finnish Business goes Kazan 2018" 50 Finnish companies specializing in the field of construction, education, information technology, agriculture, production of industrial equipment and technologies, etc. were represented. The business delegation of Finland to Tatarstan was headed by the Ambassador of Finland to Moscow Mikko Hautala.

"Finnish companies working in the Republic of Tatarstan say that it is good to work here. They get support. And new companies understand what conditions have been created here. I am sure, we will see new projects in Tatarstan", - Mikko Hautala commented.

The forum started its history in 2011. Previously, the event took place in such large Russian cities as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg. Over its eight years of history, the forum has established itself as an effective site for discussion of issues of the Finnish-Russian cooperation and implementation of joint projects.

"Traditionally, we hold this event in the regions where we see great potential for Finnish business. At the moment, Finland has a great interest in Tatarstan, so this decision was accepted. Personal factor also plays a role here – Tatarstan is one of my favorite regions of Russia", - the Director General of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce Jaana Rekolainen explained.

All the conditions for fruitful business partnership were created on the Meet&Greet site. Also within the forum, a specialized industry event "Agro-technologies from Finland: innovative technologies and equipment for agriculture and forestry" was held. Representatives of Finnish companies made reports on innovative technologies and equipment for agriculture and forestry.

"Finnish business is operating successfully in Tatarstan. In 2015, "Huhtamaki" company opened the second plant in Russia on the territory of SEZ "Alabuga" for the production of disposable tableware and paper packaging. "YIT" builds houses and facilities of high quality in the republic with the use of the latest technologies. At the end of the forum, the participants identified attractive sectors for cooperation: chemical and petrochemical industry, IT and telecommunications, construction materials, education, healthcare, forestry, energy saving, construction, architecture and start-ups. Now we plan a business trip to Finland, which will be held in early December this year to develop the agreements reached on the forum", - the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina pointed out.

The event was organized by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with Team Finland network and the Embassy of Finland to Moscow with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The partners of the event are such Finnish companies as YIT, Isku, Finnish Education Group and Kiilto, as well as SEZ "Alabuga". Official website of the forum: https://www.svkk.ru/fbrussia/
