Business mission of the major Chinese companies to Tatarstan on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of cooperation between Russia and China

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan has reviewed the results of the business mission of 25 major Chinese companies to Tatarstan. Among those who attended the event was the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov; the Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina; the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan Wu Yingqing; the head of the Russian representative office of the China Committee for the Promotion of International Trade Xu Jinli, and the representatives of the Chinese business community and business circles of Tatarstan.

As part of the business program, first of all, the main areas for the development of cooperation have been discussed in the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

“Traditionally, China has been a strategic partner of Russia for many years and, of course, it is reflected at the level of regions. 2018-2019 years have been declared the years of inter- regional cooperation. Respectively, Tatarstan is actively engaged in working with the Chinese provinces. As of today, 7 cooperation agreements have been signed with the provinces of Shandong, Hunan, Sichuan, Anhui, Heilongjiang, Zhejiang and Chongqing city. Moreover, at the level of our municipalities, another 14 agreements on cooperation in the field of trade and economic relations, development of cultural, educational, tourist and other areas that are the basis for the joint projects have been signed,” said Taliya Minullina, the Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

In her speech, the Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency specified the main advantages of Tatarstan as a region for establishing effective partnership relations.

“Tatarstan is an entry point for Chinese companies to the Russian market. There is only one reason for all that Tatarstan has – a raw material base, logistics, various kinds of support for investors, the best infrastructure in Russia – it is the team of Tatarstan led by our President Rustam Minnikhanov. We are not interested in one-time projects, we are for the strategic partnership, and this is a matter of confidence, fulfillment of all agreements, attitude to people, business and to our countries. We provide whatever it takes to build strong relations,” said Taliya Minullina.

In turn, Mr. Wu Yingqing thanked for the approach contributing to getting the China-Russia relations to a new level.

“The visit of the Chinese companies to Tatarstan is a practical step to promote the China- Russia regional cooperation and trade and economic exchange, the purpose of which is to create a platform for studying the potential projects and the investment environment in Tatarstan, to establish contacts with the regional government and companies. Cooperation of Tatarstan with China develops in various areas. Tatarstan is at the forefront among the regions of Russia. It has rich resources, a powerful industrial and agricultural basis, and its economic power numbers one in Russia,” said Mr. Wu Yingqing in his speech.

The representatives of financial, manufacturing, and trading areas and telecommunications technologies take part in the business mission.

The program includes visits to industrial parks, the study of projects that are already being successfully implemented by the Chinese investors in Tatarstan, and discussion of the Tatarstan-China relations development. So, in IT-Park, the high technology park, the guests reviewed the innovative solutions, got acquainted with the investment potential of the federal tax-privileged zones, Innopolis and Alabuga Special Economic Zones, and with the production process of Kastamonu, one of the residents. In Naberezhnye Chelny, the members of the delegation visited the Haier household refrigerator plant. The company is a leading Chinese partner of Tatarstan. On August 28, there will be an opening ceremony of the washing machine plant and industrial park with the participation of Haier President Mr.Zhang Ruimin. Also, in Nizhnekamsk, the representatives of the business circles of China got acquainted with the production processes (painting of coiled steel) of the Kamastal plant in the Pioneer Industrial Park.
