SPIEF’17 — 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum
St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a unique event in the world of economics and business. SPIEF has been held since 1997, and since 2006, it has been held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who also attended each event. Over the past twenty years the Forum has become leading global platform and brings together the world's leading politicians and businessmen who meet to determine and discuss key issues facing Russia and world community.
The key purpose of the Forum is to provide a practical tool for business, helping to overcome the barriers, both geographical and informational, dividing Russia and other countries.
Anniversary 20-th SPIEF-2016 was held under the slogan "Capitalizing on the New Global Economic Reality". It gathered more than 12,000 participants from 133 countries, including media personnel and accompanying persons. Unique in scope and subject program was held at the Forum's fields: it included more than 300 events.
The Forum’s plenary sessions, roundtables and briefings were attended by more than 40 Russian and 60 foreign high-ranking officials, including Presidents, Prime-Ministers, Heads of international organizations, ministers and top-ranking businessmen.
The number of agreements signed at the SPIEF is growing: in 2013, 102 agreements were signed, in 2014 – 175 and 205 agreements were signed in 2015. 356 agreements with a total value of 1.46 trillion rubles were signed at the SPIEF’16.
